Ukulele 101
w/ Brian Locher

Course Description:

Ukulele 101 is a fun way to start making music with charming and portable instrument. Over the course of this class, students embark on a musical adventure as they delve into the fundamentals of playing the ukulele.  In this class, you’ll learn the basics of playing the ukulele step by step.

You’ll also learn an important skill: tuning your ukulele! We show you how to use a tuner or reference notes to get the right sound. Basic chords such as C, G, F, and Am are introduced, providing students with the foundational building blocks for playing a wide range of songs. These chords are practiced extensively, and students gradually gain confidence in forming them and transitioning between them smoothly.

As the class goes on, we introduce strumming patterns, melodies, fingerpicking, and, if appropriate, more advanced techniques.

By the end of the course, students will not only have a strong grasp of ukulele basics but also the ability to play simple songs. Ukulele 101 classes aim to ignite a lifelong passion for music and provide a solid foundation for further exploration and musical creativity.
