I want to learn an instrument, how do I start?
The absolute best way to learn an instrument is with private lessons. We recommend starting with weekly 30-minute lessons and adjusting the frequency and duration as needed. You can learn more about private lessons and browse our teachers here: https://beverlymusic.academy/lessons/
What is the price of private lessons?
As of September 2026, the price for a single 30 minute private lesson on a pay as you go plan is $51.00. We offer lesson package deals and monthly memberships for our students to save money and financial assistance is always available for families in need. How long and how often are lessons?
For a beginner we highly recommend starting with 30 minute weekly lessons, (45 minutes for some students). For more advanced musicians, longer lessons and/or less frequent lessons can work well
What is a good age to start music lessons?
Some children are ready for lessons as early as 3 or 4 and most will be ready by age 6. The important factors are your child’s interest in music and their practice routine. Never force a young child to practice, but instilling good practice habits is essential. Just like doing their homework or brushing their teeth, practicing needs to become part of the daily routine. This is something to discuss with your teacher.
What instruments do you offer lessons for?

We do not currently have a teacher for banjo or mandolin.
How do you accept payment?
We accept credit cards (3% fee) and bank transfer payments (ACH) – zero fee!
You can switch any time.
Is it ok if I can't read music?
Yes, we have teachers that can accommodate any experience level from complete beginners to professional musicians. Also, reading standard music notation is not necessary for learning music for some instruments. Many highly skilled professional guitarists, drummers, bassists, and vocalists cannot read music written in standard music notation. However, reading music is almost always part of the process of learning instruments such as piano, strings, brass, woodwinds etc.

What is your cancelation policy?
Every teacher maintains their own cancelation policy, some teachers travel a signifigant distance to teach at our facility. In order to respect your instructors time and livelihood please note your teachers cancelation policy and be prepared to pay for short notice and excessive cancelations.
