I want to learn an instrument, how do I start?

The absolute best way to learn an instrument is with private lessons.  We recommend starting with weekly 30-minute lessons and adjusting the frequency and duration as needed.  You can learn more about private lessons and browse our teachers here: https://beverlymusic.academy/private-lessons

What is the price of private lessons?

Private lessons are $46.35 / half hour.  Discounts and scholarships are available for those in need.

How long and how often are lessons?

For a beginner we highly recommend starting with 30 minute weekly lessons, (45 minutes for some students). For more advanced musicians, longer lessons and/or less frequent lessons can work well

What is a good age to start music lessons?

Some children are ready for lessons as early as 4 or 5 and most will be ready by age 7. The important factors are your child’s interest in music and their practice routine. Never force a child to learn an instrument as this may result in them rejecting it, but teaching them good practice habits is essential. Just like doing their homework or brushing their teeth, practicing needs to become part of the daily routine. This is something to discuss with your teacher.

What instruments do you offer lessons for?

We currently offer lessons for: voice, piano, guitar, violin, cello, viola, drums, bass guitar, ukulele, trumpet, and more. If you want to learn an instrument not listed here please ask.

How do you accept payment?

Our default method is to collect your credit card information and charge your card monthly for all scheduled lessons.  If you need to cancel a lesson, please give your teacher 24 hours’ notice and you will not be charged for the lesson.  The pre-payment will be applied to future lessons. There is no limit to cancellations. If you need a different arrangement please ask, we are happy to accommodate unique situations such as occasional lessons or erratic schedules.

Is it ok if I can't read music?

Yes, we have teachers that can accommodate any experience level from complete beginners to professional musicians. Also, reading standard music notation is not necessary for learning music for some instruments. Many highly skilled professional guitarists, drummers, bassists, and vocalists cannot read music written in standard music notation. However, reading music is almost always part of the process of learning instruments such as piano, strings, brass, woodwinds etc.

How do I sign up for lessons?

The best way to sign up for lessons is to fill out the form here: https://beverlymusic.academy/private-lessons

You should hear back within 2 business days. During certain times of the year due to increased volume response times may be longer, please feel free to also reach out via call/text/email.

Do you offer group lessons?

We offer a variety of group classes.  Some on-going bands, and some 6 week courses.  Please browse our classes here: https://beverlymusic.academy/classes

What is your cancelation policy?
