Bio

Brian MacDougall is a professional drummer of 25 years and an educator to drummers all over the world through Drumming Innovation Magazine, BeatCreature.com, private-in-studio instruction and his many partnerships in the drumming community. Brian teaches all ages and levels of experience where students explore the history, language and disciplines of drumming using customized curriculums for each student.

His music education started in jr. high and high school where he was influenced greatly by marching band and drum corp style competition as well as many district, regional and state festivals for orchestra, concert band and jazz ensembles.

Brian received his Bachelor of Professional Music from Berklee College of Music graduating with high honors in 1996 where he studied drum set with: Allan Hall, Ed Uribe, Rick Considine, Casey Scheuerell, Larry Finn, Jon Hazzilla and Dave DiCenso; latin hand percussion with Giovanni Hildalgo; tuned mallet percussion with Nancy Zeltzman of Marimba One and Richard Flanigan of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. While attending Berklee he also studied arranging/writing for ensembles, recording engineering techniques and vocal performance.

Since graduating Brian has performed with many influential artists and song writers ranging in musical styles from rock to latin, funk, RnB and jazz fusion. Brian is currently performing with the regional touring band No Shoes Nation, a country tribute to Kenny Chesney. Past artists and groups include: The Midtown Horns, Picante Soul, Jerry Bergonzi, Mary Ellis Brown, Richard Bulling, Jetta, Blue Moon Harem,The Spike Emerson Society, G4, SouthSide and Wain Jones to name a few.

Brian keeps an extensive schedule of teaching/performances and is currently an active member of the Percussive Arts Society, Sabian Educators Network, D’Addario Educators Association and the Vic Firth PDT program as well as an endorser or Vic Firth Drum Sticks, Tame Drums, Roland and Ultimate Ears.
